His work made fibre optic cable manufacturable at scale, which is a large part of why the internet moves the way it does. Fourteen patents, and the US National Academy of Inventors in 2015.

Thomas Owusu Mensah was a Ghanaian-American chemical engineer and inventor whose work contributed to fibre optic manufacturing and to nanotechnology.

He held fourteen patents and was inducted into the United States National Academy of Inventors in 2015. He died on 27 March 2024.
