Why they are here
He rapped in Twi when everyone rapped in English, and in doing so started the genre that every Ghanaian rapper since has worked inside.
Reginald Yaw Asante Ossei, who records as Reggie Rockstone, was born on 11 April 1964 in the United Kingdom and spent his early years in Kumasi and Accra before being raised in the UK and New York.
He has lived in Ghana since starting the hiplife movement in 1994. His 1997 album Makaa Maka set the template β Western hip-hop against Ghanaian highlife, rapped in both English and Twi, which established that rapping in a Ghanaian language was something to do on purpose.
