Why they are here

King of Asante since 1999 and custodian of the Golden Stool, an office older than Ghana itself and one that still carries real authority within it.

Born Nana Barima Kwaku Duah in May 1950, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the sixteenth Asantehene, enstooled on 26 April 1999 in succession to his cousin Otumfuo Opoku Ware II.

He is custodian of the Golden Stool, the sacred symbol of Asante unity and authority, and serves as Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
