He presented Africa to the world from the BBC and refused to do it in the old register, insisting on a continent reported as news rather than as crisis. He died at 41.
Komla Afeke Dumor won the Ghana Journalists Association's Journalist of the Year award in 2003, and became the pioneer presenter of the BBC World News programme Focus on Africa when it launched in 2012.
He died suddenly in January 2014, aged 41. The BBC's annual Komla Dumor Award for African journalists is named for him.
