Appointed Chief Justice in June 2007, the first woman to hold the office, after a career in the judiciary spanning five decades.

Georgina Theodora Wood became Ghana's first female Chief Justice on her appointment in June 2007, and served until her retirement in 2017.

Her tenure was marked by reforms aimed at the efficiency of the courts and at access to justice.
