Sir John breached bond of good behaviour – Wereko-Brobbey
Mr. Owusu Afriyie was made to sign a bond to be of good behaviour and was also fined for making derogatory comments against the President of the nine-member panel of judges who presided over the hearing of the Election Petition case at the Supreme Court.
However, Mr. Owusu Afriyie recently announced that majority of the bench ruled in favour of the petitioners contrary to the judgment delivered by the President of the nine-justices, Justice William Atuguba.
The comment according to Dr. Wereko-Brobbey amounts to scandalizing the Supreme Court which requires him to be put to strict proof.
“This is a direct challenge to the judgement and it is tantamount to suggesting that either the presiding president of the court and or the whole court has perpetrated a fraud in what was announced as opposed to what actually happened.
…and I think it is important that he be put to strict proof so show that someday in effect has announced the wrong verdict,” said Dr. Brobbey.
The former Volta River Authority (VRA) boss also told Citi News that, the NPP General Secretary further made inciteful comments by stating that in 2016, the party will not resort to the law courts if it loses the elections.
He therefore urged the appropriate authorities to nib the behaviour of Mr. Owusu Afriyie in the bud to bring sanity into Ghana’s politics.
Dr. Wereko-Brobbey also hinted he will personally write to the Ghana Bar Association to deal with the matter saying, “I have already written to them to deal with a couple of lawyers. I will add this particular incident to it because it is absolutely dangerous rhetoric which must never be allowed to go on.”
