First division referees receive part payment of arrears – report
Footy-ghana.com understands that a further part-payment of GH¢29,500 (¢295 million) will be paid to the referees in due course.
Completion of that payment will leave the GFA with one year of arrears to pay.
Division One referees had been owed officiating fees and allowances over the last seasons and last week threatened to boycott division one league matches if payments were not forthcoming.
The initial payment, according to footy-ghana.com sources, has calmed tensions somewhat and so referees will be available when the second round of the Division One League which kicks off on Wednesday April 2 2013.
Footy-ghana.com has learnt that after the arrears have been fully cleared, the affiliation fees will be used to pay referees their match fees and allowances from next season.
