Address challenges within Police Service -President Mahama tells Police Council
" border="0" align="left" class="photo" hspace="10" style="float:left;"/> President John Dramani Mahama has charged the newly sworn in Police Council to address some peculiar challenges facing the Police Service in order to enhance efficiency within the service.

He made the comments when he swore in a ten member Police Council with Vice President Amissah Arthur as the chair to steer the affairs of the Ghana Police Service.

While commending the police for recent initiatives such as visibility patrols, President John Mahama was of the view that perennial challenges such as inadequate housing amongst others should be addressed.

“There however remain a number of peculiar challenges that must occupy your attention as a council. These include inadequate personnel to effectively police our ever growing population, inadequate residential accommodation for officers and men, inadequate office accommodation for newly created divisions, districts and stations, inadequate lecture room facilities at the various police training colleges, inadequate transport, absence of sustained in service training and obsolete communications gadgets among other things,” the President said
