Gov’t must pay attention to primary health care - GPAA
President of the Association, Alhaji Norgan Osamanu says, rural areas in the country are facing serious healthcare challenges which need to be addressed urgently.
He stated that although the Ghana Health Service (GHS) is doing its part in healthcare delivery, pragmatic steps should be taken by government to deal with the problem.
Speaking to Citi News, Alhaji Osamanu said the absence of quality delivery in the rural areas is further stifling Ghana’s efforts to achieve the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.
"The Millennium Development Goals are the main focus of the Ghana Health Service for now…Our fellows from the rural areas are not strengthened; the Millennium Development Goals cannot be met.”
He added that much concentration should be given to public health delivery in the rural areas or else, “the programme will go into derailment.”
